ME Learning: New!

We now have the following online training programmes available to anyone living or working in Gateshead.

Working with the eLearning training platform Me-Learning, anyone that wishes to, has the ability to access training from work or home at a time that suits you.

To complete any of the following e-learning courses, self-register and enrol using the online form (opens new window).

  • Cultural Awareness in Safeguarding
  • Hate Crime
  • Hidden Harm: Parental Substance Misuse, Parental Mental Ill Health and Domestic Abuse
  • Neglect
  • Online Safety - Risks to Children
  • Online Safety for Parents and Carers
  • Safeguarding Children Level 1 and Level 2
  • Self-Harm
  • Sexual abuse and recognising grooming
  • Substance Misuse

Courses are delivered in easily manageable 'chunks' and can be paused and completed in your own time. These are intended to ensure that as many people as possible in Gateshead who wish to, have access to safeguarding training, and complement our wider offer for our safeguarding partners.

Safeguarding Adults Week 2023 will be running from Monday 20 November to Friday 24 November 2023. The theme for this year's event is "Safeguarding Yourself and Others".
Gateshead Council are warning residents to be alert to the potential dangers of charging lithium-Ion batteries at home
There will be a national test of the UK's new Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 23 April at 3pm. The test alert will be sent to most mobile phones across the UK. Devices will make a distinct, siren-like sound for up to 10 seconds, including on phones switched to silent mode. Phones will also vibrate and display a message about the test.
Vulnerable young women and girls in Gateshead at risk of gang exploitation will have access to new support, thanks to new specialist funding from the Home Office.
